Tape Logic for moving & storage

Moving needs fewer kinds of supplies than shipping, but more of each: plenty of boxes, a couple of rolls of tape per ten boxes, a tape gun, Fragile labels and paper to fill the gaps.

Questions

Moving & Storage questions

How much packing tape do I need to move?

A 55 yard roll is 165 feet. One strip along the top and bottom seams of a medium box uses about 8 to 10 feet, so a roll seals 15 to 20 boxes. The H pattern on heavy boxes uses about twice as much.

Which boxes are best for moving books?

Small, strong boxes: books get heavy fast. A standard box around 12 x 12 x 12 inches or a double-wall box keeps the weight manageable.
