About the line
What acrylic carton sealing tape is for
Acrylic adhesive is the slow, steady kind. It takes a moment longer than hot melt to grab, but it keeps its hold on stored cartons, and stays clear over barcodes and labels. The Tape Logic acrylic rolls come in 2, 3, 4 and 6 inch widths and 55, 72, 110 and 220 yard lengths.
Thickness runs from 1.6 to 3.5 mil. The thin rolls are made for light cartons. The 2.6 and 3.5 mil rolls are the ones for heavy and overstuffed boxes. The acrylic models state an application range of 45°F to 120°F, so this is tape for a heated room rather than a winter loading dock.
Best for
- Boxes kept in storage or a garage for months
- Clear tape over shipping labels and barcodes
- Heavier cartons, with the 2.6 and 3.5 mil rolls
Look elsewhere if
- You pack in a cold warehouse below 45°F: natural rubber tape states 0°F
- You seal hundreds of boxes a day and price per yard decides: hot melt costs less
How to use it
Sealing a box with a tape gun
- 1Load the gun
Drop the roll on the hub so the tape comes off the bottom, toward the box, and thread it under the roller.
- 2Start on the side
Press the end 2 to 3 inches down the side of the box so the seam does not peel open at the edge.
- 3Pull across the seam
Draw the gun along the center seam with steady pressure. The roller presses the tape into the board.
- 4Finish and cut
Run 2 to 3 inches down the far side and rock the gun forward so the blade cuts the tape.

How thick is Tape Logic acrylic packing tape?
The acrylic models run 1.6 to 3.5 mil. Use 1.6 to 2 mil for light cartons and 2.6 or 3.5 mil for heavy or overstuffed boxes.
Does acrylic packing tape work in the cold?
The Tape Logic acrylic rolls state 45°F to 120°F for application. Below that, tape sticks poorly. Natural rubber tape is rated from 0°F.

So far this tape has been excellent. I like 3 inch wide because I now don't have to 'double tape' my boxes like I did with my 2 inch taper.
